The week commencing on the fifth of November 2018 marked one of the most significant and important dates in recent history. It marked the day that I, William Bradley Rice, started my career at the marketing powerhouse that is Accelerate. After a short search for a career in this field, I was taken on by two founders Nick Brown and Phil Pearce and welcomed into a superb team that oozes expertise and knowledge.
An opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and learn from the people who literally wrote the book on Google Analytics; I just couldn’t pass this up. Especially after seeing the impressive list of past clients including the likes of ITV, National Geographic, Citroen and many more. Furthermore, I had to leap at the chance to work for Accelerate after reviewing the case studies and stellar testimonials.
Young, ambitious and full of anticipation, I wondered; what immense career awaits me? Vast pools of knowledge to dive in, expertise to be picked from the trees of experience and a career to be chiselled and perfected; my digital marketing oasis awaited me.
My first week was humbling. The sheer amount of knowledge and experience that Nick and Phil have garnered over the years is just staggering. The reason why they know so much is comforting; it isn’t a job, it’s their pleasure. Nick and Phil breathe marketing and that’s why they’re the best at what they do.
The first week also entailed a steep learning curve, that I can see to continue for the next few weeks. However, with the mentors that are supporting me, the gradient is at least half that of one I would find anywhere else.
I’ve been learning the intricacies of Google Analytics, the internals of Ahrefs, the importance of Hubspot and plenty of other skills that are crafting me into a marketing knight. I have seen the dark side of the black hat SEO and the light side of the white hat SEO. However, a Jedi Knight does not stray from the path of the light.
I look to the future with high hopes. High hopes that I am confident will be fulfilled with the extraordinary team I have been so warmly welcomed into. The expertise and knowledge of each member being a component of Kath Dawson’s orchestration to create a symphony of marketing genius is a sound to be heard. A sound that has been heard by copious amounts of successful and satisfied customers. An earworm for me, the prodigy, the kid.
